I would admire the naiveté of any German football club that would want to re-sign Woltemade after just one season and accept the considerable drop in market value that Newcastle United initially paid for him. And yet, his market value remains similar to what Newcastle United paid on Transfermarkt.
There are assessments that analysts believe will help him, as I, like many others who follow him, consider him a very good young player with additional potential that critics underestimated even before his arrival. Was it too early to sign him? No, if it was, it suits his developmental stage well, as he has already demonstrated by arriving so early and adapting to the attacking style of play. But, given the high initial transfer fee, it would be somewhat unfair for the club to lose considerable value on him. To think he should be transferred solely because of his inconsistent performances this season and, at times, his lack of success on the bench, doesn't say much about the signing, due to several factors related to the player and Newcastle United's style of play, for example. When he wants to play, he also waits for the right moment to connect with the fans, precisely because of the passion they inspire. It's about whether he truly believes in United, whether he connects with them, and whether he adapts to the team's structure. I know it sounds a bit different from other clubs, but he simply wants to wear the shirt next season because he has shown interest in playing and in the possible positions.
His ability to develop his game both on the pitch and in front of the Newcastle fans is key to scoring goals and gaining visibility.
